WELL HELLO THERE

Welcome to haphazard. I am Rebecca Hazard the founder of haphazard – a collection of prints, accessories and homewares made in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. With a passion for printmaking, I like to dream up amusing and engaging designs using a variety of techniques. Thank you for having a look and please get in touch if anything takes your fancy!

BLOCK AND SCREEN PRINTING

Many designs at haphazard have been achieved using a combination lino and screen printmaking techniques. Through an iterative process of hand-sketching and design on the computer, it is possible to explore layering to create a final image using an economical number of colours. All products are made from quality and sustainable paper stock or organic fabrics using waterbased inks.

RISOGRAPHY

Risography is in essence, digital screen printing using a stencil duplicator. The riso prints colours one at a time in bright, vibrant colours, where new colours are created by overlays. A really fun and efficient method of printing, riso printing is also very economical and environmentally friendly, using rice paper stencils, rice bran ink with designs almost always printed on recycled paper stock.

INSPIRATION

Making things that other people enjoy having in their life is something that I find truly satisfying. If you are open to inspiration, it can be found almost anywhere! Be it routine occurrences or the out of the ordinary, it is an appreciation of everyday life that usually sparks ideas.  The idea initiates a process of design and abstraction, resulting in a pattern in print.
